Gaudete Sunday - 14th December

On Sunday 14th December, the parish will celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent (Gaudete Sunday) with Dom Aelred Magee, OCSO of Our Lady of Bethlehem Abbey, Portglenone. Fr Aelred will preach at the 10am, 12noon and 3pm Masses (note: Mass at 3pm will include Anointing of the Sick), and he will lead us in the Evening Prayer of the Church (Vespers) with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction at 6pm.

Dom Aelred is a highly regarded speaker and preacher. He previously served as Head of Music in St. Malachy’s College, Belfast and as the Catholic Chaplain at Queen’s University, Belfast.

This will be an excellent opportunity to rejoice in the anticipation of Jesus's coming at Christmas, serving as a moment of joy amid the solemnity of Advent, a moment of respite amid the chaos and bustle of our secular world, and a symbol of the hope and light of Christ in our lives. We encourage all parishioners to attend and to invite friends and family members, particularly those who may find themselves disconnected from the Church or from parish life.
